Airport Information
Mar del Plata is one of the most important touristic cities of Argentina, connections by bus, train and plane are easy from most of the cities, particularly from Buenos Aires. There are direct daily flights from Ministro Pistarini International Airport, so people arriving from abroad can connect from there to Mar del Plata. There are direct figths also from the Jorge Newbery international airport, close to the Buenos Aires downtown, as well as shuttle buses from both airports

Tipping
In restaurants, 10% gratuity is considered the norm. Going over 10% is rare and pretty generous. Leaving less (or leaving nothing)if the service was particularly bad, is also quite common. At fine-dining restaurants, where you are almost guaranteed to receive great attention, there should be no reason not to tip.

Currency
The peso (established as the peso convertible) is the currency of Argentina, identified by the symbol $ preceding the amount in the same way as many countries using peso or dollar currencies. It is subdivided into 100 centavos. Its ISO 4217 code is ARS.

Electric Power Plugs and Voltage
For Argentina there are two associated plug types, types C and I. Plug type C is the plug which has two round pins and plug type I is the plug which has three flat pins in a triangular pattern. Argentina operates on a 220V supply voltage and 50Hz

VAT
The VAT rate is 21%, although certain specific items are subject to a 27% or 10.5% rate.

Language
Spanish is the official and administrative language of Argentina.
